Clacton Triathlon is back in 2020 by popular demand

After calls for it to stay, the 22nd Clacton Triathlon Weekend has been announced for September 2020.

We are pleased to be able to announce the Clacton Triathlon Weekend 2020, in aid of the Brain and Spine Foundation.

The event will be taking place at Clacton-on-Sea on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September 2020.

Last year, the 2019 Clacton Triathlon Weekend was announced to be the final event in this long running series - but following the cry of dismay from numerous clubs and competitors, it was recently decided that the Clacton Triathlon Weekend will return for 2020.

£7000 was raised from our 21st Clacton Triathlon Weekend. It was a great weekend and at that time we thought it would be the last.

Since then, as you have probably heard, we realised we could not let it go, and after much discussion, support, and encouragement from competitive triathletes we made up our mind, guided by son Simon who does the majority of the organisation, to continue what is a very professional weekend. - John Kedge, Founder of the Clacton Triathlon

Since its inception 22 years ago, the Clacton Triathlon has supported the Brian & Spine Foundation raising over £100,000 to help improve the lives of those affected by neurological conditions and injuries. Initially, this choice was due to the misfortune of two members of Clacton Swimming Club, an organisation to which the organisers are closely linked.

The motivation and choice of charity has been reinforced over recent years due to subsequent brain and spine related conditions which have afflicted other members, past and present, of Clacton Swimming Club. The Triathlon continues to be the annual focus for those surviving members and the families of those who are no longer with us. They all take an active part in assisting us to make the event a success.
