How we make a difference

Neurological conditions and associated treatments are often complex, raising many questions for the people affected and their families.

The Brain & Spine Foundation provides support and quality information to people affected by brain and spine conditions, in order to reduce anxiety and help inform their choices.

Brain & Spine Helpline: 0808 808 1000

Our Helpline is a free service staffed by neuroscience nurses. The nurses can answer questions about all neurological conditions, from the fairly common to the very rare, and can offer information and support on any medical or related social and emotional issues of concern.

The nurses can answer queries by telephone, letter or email as well as providing an opportunity for people to share their experiences and ask questions on the discussion forum.

“I called the Helpline and had an amazing chat with Eva, so much relevant information delivered with great patience and understanding. This is the first time I've called the Helpline and I wish I'd done it ages ago. It’s such a brilliant source of information and support for people like me as it can be so hard for us to find this kind of specific help and understanding for our conditions.”

We provide over 25 informative booklets and fact sheets on different conditions, procedures and symptoms. Accredited by the Department of Health’s Information Standard, the publications are freely available online, by post and through our partner organisations.

“I have just read the Brain & Spine Foundation's booklet on dizziness and balance problems, having had quite a bad experience of it which I'm now recovering from. As ever lack of understanding causes further anxiety and stress and just makes the problem worse.

“I just wanted to tell you what a huge comfort, encouragement and inspiration the information has provided, it just makes so much difference to appreciate what's going on, the likely causes and my chances of a full recovery.”
