Brain and spine conditions affect up to ten million people in the UK and are the most common cause of death and disability in the population. Since 2003, the Brain and Spine Foundation has been developing new projects for children affected by brain and spine conditions. The post of part time Children’s Project Officer, which is supported by the Big Lottery Fund to develop information and support for young people with an acquired brain injury, has recently become vacant. We are looking for a new post holder to fill this key post and to take this exciting project forward.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, preferably in a health, social care related subject or psychology, and you will also ideally have a post-graduate qualification in this area. You will have a background of working with children and young people combined with experience of co-ordinating a project involving consultation with this age group. You will possess an in-depth knowledge of the health, social and educational impact of acquired brain injury in young people. You should be able to engage a wide variety of stakeholders including parents, health professionals, statutory bodies and voluntary organisations. Experience of producing web and printed information for this audience will be an advantage.
