Visit our brain injury website for children
01 December 2008
The Brain and Spine Foundation has launched an online resource to help children and young people with acquired brain injury (ABI), their brothers and sisters, friends and parents.
Any family suddenly having to deal with the turmoil and trauma of a child sustaining an ABI can feel isolated and alone when they realise the potential long term impact of the condition. Once discharged from hospital the need for support and information is overwhelming but all too often it is difficult to access and not aimed at the people who need it. To help bridge this gap we are providing the About Brain Injury website at www.aboutbraininjury.org.uk
The interactive site, aimed at children, has information on the brain and on brain injury, what happens in hospital and what the jargon means. There is also support on coping with the changes an ABI can bring to everyday life with help dealing with friends and family, school and life in general.
