Spinal Injuries Awareness Day - 21 May 2010
21 May 2010
Today is Spinal Injuries Awareness Day.
According to spinal injury charity Aspire, there are currently 40,000 people in the UK with a spinal cord injury. Every eight hours another person will sustain a spinal cord injury and be told that they may never walk again. Incurring a spinal cord injury is a horrific, life changing experience; there is no warning, no preventative medicine, no time to prepare. Spinal injuries can happen to anyone – a car accident, falling down the stairs or a bad tackle in a game of rugby.
