My parent has a brain injury: new book for young people

30 November 2011

My parent has a brain injury - front cover A new book aims to help young people aged between 11 and 20 who have a parent with a brain injury (including information on injury, stroke, infection and anoxia).

"My parent has a brain injury... A guide for young people" by neuropsychologist Jo Johnson gives factual information, explains why a parent might seem different, normalises negative feelings and offers ideas about how a young person can help themselves but also when to seek help from others.

It works as a stand-alone resource for families and can also be used to support clinical work with individuals or in groups. Several sections can also be used with other long term conditions.

You can buy the book online from the Headway website.

For more information about the book, please contact Richard Morris, Information Officer at Headway, at info.officer@headway.org.uk.
