"My brain is toe-scrunchingly amazing": Sandie's story of brain tumour and MS

14 March 2011

SandieHaving had a brain tumour and a diagnosis of MS, not everyone would describe their brain as "toe-scrunchingly amazing." However, Sandie Bailes is different - read her story to find out why!

When she started feeling dizzy and tired, with numbness in her legs, Sandie had a series of tests before being told she had a tumour the size of a satsuma in her brain.

She had an operation to shrink the tumour - which turned out to be benign - but her story doesn't end there. After the operation Sandie's dizziness returned, and she was then diagnosed with MS.

Sandie's approach to her condition is upbeat and positive, but it wasn't always this way, and her MS diagnosis was a cruel blow. "I thought my life was over and looked forward to days sitting in a wheelchair covered with a blanket," says Sandie.

"Then a wonderful Neuro Nurse called Wendy persuaded me to fight once again. 'Use it or lose it,' she said."
