London Marathon 2011: congratulations to the Brain and Spine team!

20 April 2011

Congratulations and a big thank you to the 66-strong London Marathon team who ran for the Brain and Spine Foundation on Sunday.

Team Captain Michael Watson poses with some of the London Marathon 2011 team

As well as achieving a mammoth physical feat after months of gruelling training, the team look set to raise a total of £100,000 for the Foundation - a huge contribution which will help fund core services such as our nurse-led Helpline.

After completing the course, runners were greeted at a Post Race Party by Team Captain Michael Watson, the former boxer who was seriously brain injured following a fight with Chris Eubank in 1991. Watson was operated on by Brain and Spine Foundation founder, neurosurgeon Peter Hamlyn, and went on to walk the Marathon route - which took six days to complete - in 2003.
