Introducing the 2006 Daily Telegraph / Brain and Spine Foundation Marathon Team
12 January 2006
Members of this year's Daily Telegraph / Brain and Spine Foundation team for the London Marathon got together for their first meeting at a training evening at Arsenal Football Club. Hosted by Gary Lewin, the Arsenal and England physiotherapist, the evening consisted of a series of presentations on technique and training by healthcare professionals specialising in sport.Members of the team shared their stories of what inspired them to run this year on behalf of the Foundation. Some have experienced a neurological condition, either as a patient or carer, while others have lost loved ones or colleagues.
The team was also introduced to their captain Kirsty Gallacher who said, "I am thrilled to be captain of this year's team - it was a real honour to be asked. I would say to the team to take all the expert advice on board, but know that their motivation for doing this is their strongest guiding force."
Over the past seven years, the Brain and Spine Foundation's alliance with the Daily Telegraph has helped raise over £700,000. The Foundation would like to thank all of the runners who have participated over the years and the Telegraph for their ongoing support.
