Grand Charity support for DVD on improving clinical skills

12 September 2006

The Foundation has received a substantial grant from the Freemasons’ Grand Charity to support our project to develop a DVD on clinical skills in neurology for medical professionals.

The DVD will cover both core neurological clinical skills and generic skills, and stress the vital importance of communication skills and of taking a patient’s medical history in neurology. The DVD will also look at special cases such as the unconscious patient.

Chief Executive of the Foundation, Maggie Alexander, says, "There is a need to improve the early recognition and diagnosis of neurological conditions to help patients to access appropriate support and treatment as quickly as possible. The DVD will enable medical professionals to improve their clinical skills in neurology."

This approach is supported by the key stakeholders in the neurology sector who have also identified the need for this work. The DVD will be of benefit to people living with neurological conditions, health professionals utilising the resource and the sector as a whole.
