Clacton Triathlon raises £50,000 for the Brain and Spine Foundation

The 12th annual Clacton Triathlon took place this weekend (25 and 26 September) - and its organisers presented the Foundation with a cheque for £50,000!
The Clacton Triathlon is one of the few triathlons to take place on the open sea, in the surroundings of the beautiful Essex coastline.
Inspired by friends with various brain and spine conditions, the Triathlon has raised funds exclusively for the Brain and Spine Foundation since its inception in 1999, with the total reaching £50,000 this year. Read more about the history of the Triathlon
Each year there are events for both adults and children - see below for some photos from Saturday's event (with duathlons for boys and girls).

A great weekend of racing
As well as raising such a phenomenal amount of money for the Foundation, the Triathlon is an event that is always enjoyed by those that take part.
"What a great weekend of racing, just wanted to say a big well done and a big thank you, to you and all your team for making the weekend racing safe and great fun... We plan to come back next year with a bigger team," said Steve Bonsell.
Justin Burls says: "I think both days are among the slickest events I've witnessed organisation wise and all marshals seemed helpful and friendly!"
And Jim Rourke had nothing but praise for the volunteer marshals: "I must comment on today that the real champions were the Marshals. I mean EVERY Marshal. They all must have been very wet and cold and yet still every one was super in their duties and all had words of encouragement. Amazing under the horrible conditions! Congratulations on a fantastic event and fantastic marshals."
