Are you caring for someone with a neurological condition? Then speak out about your experiences...
08 June 2009
This week, the Brain and Spine Foundation is asking carers to speak out about the particular challenges of looking after someone with a neurological condition. During Carers Week, which starts today, we are asking you to tell us about your own experiences of the carer's role.
Many people do not automatically think of themselves as a carer. But according to Carers UK, a carer is anyone who gives their time to look after a friend or relative who needs help because they are ill, frail or disabled, and three in five people will be a carer at some point in their lives.
While several organisations exist to help carers, we would like to find out what extra information or support we can offer to the carers of people with neurological conditions - whether that might be simple ways of explaining medical terms to friends and family, or a place to chat about neurological symptoms and conditions with others in the same position.
If you have any suggestions about services we could develop for carers, or would like to tell us about your own experiences, please contact us by emailing info@brainandspine.org.uk or calling 020 7793 5900.
If you are a carer there are services and benefits that you are entitled to. You can find out more at:
