Aphasia awareness: get informed and spread the word
02 June 2011
250,000 people in the UK have aphasia (a language disorder that can occur after a stroke or head injury), and yet many people have never heard of it. That's according to aphasia charity Connect, who are spreading awareness of the communication disability throughout the month of June.
Connect is committed to raising awareness about aphasia, so that more people can understand how it affects people's lives. During Aphasia Awareness Month, the charity has a list of things that you can do to help raise awareness.
You can also find out more about aphasia in the Brain and Spine Foundation's Speech, language and communication difficulties booklet.
