Spinal cord stimulation is used very successfully for certain groups of patients with chronic pain as it enables the release of chemicals naturally occurring in the brain which reduce the response to pain. Drugs are available which enhance this effect and this project assessed the value of these drugs in addition to cord stimulation, in both the laboratory and the clinic.
