The overall aim of the research programme has been to fund research that will lead to improvements in the prevention, treatment and care or disorders of the brain and spine.

• The programme’s aim has been to foster and encourage the development of talented, innovative researchers in this field.
• The results of research funded by the programme have been and will be disseminated widely to ensure potential advances and benefits can be taken up as soon as possible by others working in the field and in turn be of direct benefit to people affected by neurological disorders.
• By publishing research results, the programme has and will increase awareness of advances in the neurological sciences and so encourage the directing of resources into this field.
• The programme has provided opportunities to raise awareness of the work of the Brain and Spine Foundation.
• The programme conforms to international standards of Research Governance.
