Introduction
Written by Dr R C Peatfield, Consultant Neurologist, Charing Cross Hospital, with contributions from Prof Peter J Goadsby, Reader in Clinical Neurology and Wellcome Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Neurology,The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Sarah Cumbers, formerly of the Migraine Trust
This booklet is intended to provide some general information on headaches. It has been written to answer some of the questions often asked by people affected by headaches, and their families.
However, because headaches affect each person differently and because there are so many different types, it is important that you speak to your own GP or to the doctor or nurse who is looking after you, since they are in a position to offer advice and information to meet your own specific needs.
Note: words printed in bold are explained in the glossary.
