What other help is available for people with brain tumours?
There are a number of organisations which help people affected by brain tumours and other forms of cancer. The most well known of these are the Hospice Movement and Macmillan teams. These are now present throughout the country and you may well have been introduced to them already. They deal mainly with people affected by malignant tumours. If you feel that you may need the kind of support they are able to offer, then ask your GP or specialist team.
If you feel depressed or worried whilst in hospital or while attending outpatients, you should feel free to ask to see the social worker attached to the ward or medical team. Social workers are able to offer counselling, support and advice on a wide range of topics.
