Angiogram

A guide for patients and carers

What happens before the test?

  • You may already be an inpatient, or if not, you may be admitted into hospital the day before the test.
  • A doctor will go through your medical history and will explain the test to you and then ask you for your consent for the test.
  • You may not be allowed to eat and drink for four to six hours before the test. Before the test you may be given tablets or an injection to make you feel relaxed and sleepy.
  • You will then be taken to the x-ray department.
