Angiogram
A guide for patients and carers
Additional procedures
If an abnormality of the blood vessels is found during the test you may either be referred to your surgeon for an operation, or the radiologist may be able to carry out repair of the blood vessel at a later date. The repair is done by inserting a tiny coil (known as a GDC) through the tube that is already in place. The coil is positioned at the point where the blood vessel is damaged and helps it to heal. Sometimes, the epair is carried out by passing special particles through the tube which encourage the damaged vessel to heal.
