Communication skills training course
This was a free training course which ran from 2009 to 2010, open to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, care assistants or other health and social care professionals working with older people who have dementia, Parkinson's, MND or other neurological conditions.
The course was offered to the above professionals based in Hampshire, Liverpool Medway, Surrey, Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trusts.
The course was endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and the College of Occupational Therapists.
Participants learnt about a range of communication strategies they could apply in their day to day work with older people with neurological conditions. A free toolkit containing practical tips was also distributed as part of the course.
