Waiting for a diagnosis

Spinal surgery abroad


37-year-old Emma was in Barcelona when she experienced a dull ache along her lower back and pins and needles in her lower right leg. After realising she couldn't feel hot and cold on her right side she went to A&E and ended up having spinal surgery.

Lily was admitted to hospital thirteen years ago, with her husband told that if she had been left any longer her chances would have been small. Leaving hospital several months later, she confronted her neurologist about her bladder and bowel issues.
