Cavernoma and epilepsy: attend a lecture
05 February 2010
Two lectures by consultant neurosurgeons will be held in March by Cavernoma Alliance UK, during Brain Awareness Week (15-21 March).
Mr Mohsen Javadpour, consultant neurosurgeon at The Walton Centre, will lecture on 16 March at Neurosupport, Liverpool (tbc).
On 20 March, Mr. Andrew McEvoy, consultant neurosurgeon at the National, will present a talk on cavernomas and epilepsy (epilepsy is a special interest of Mr. McEvoy's.) Tabitha Bushill, now a board member of Cavernoma Alliance UK, who had an awake craniotomy for a cavernoma removal under Mr. McEvoy in November, will introduce Mr McEvoy. The lecture will take place at 10am at the Old Boardroom, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Coffee and pastries will be served in the Old Boardroom courtesy of the hospital and the talk will be finished by 1pm. There is no charge for the event.
Cavernoma Alliance UK is a charity created by people affected by cavernoma, otherwise known as cerebral cavernous malformations or cavernous angioma. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for those affected by cavernomas through education, support, and promotion of research.
Brain Awareness Week, which will run from 15-21 March, is the global campaign to increase public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research. During the week, organisations across the world join in a week-long celebration of the brain. You can find out more about what's going on this Brain Awareness Week on The Dana Foundation website.
