Helplines need help too

We believe that our Helpline is a bit special. Staffed by neuroscience nurses it gives people across the UK the opportunity to find about more about their condition, about an impending investigation, about their symptoms or simply about something their doctor said to them that they did not understand.

But we want to make it even better. Fewer unanswered calls, more people helped and easier ways of getting access to the information when it is needed.

Complex

The brain and spine are probably the most complex parts of our bodies and unfortunately quite a lot can go wrong with them. Brain tumours, brain haemorrhages, epilepsy, dizziness, stroke, transverse myelitis - there are hundreds of neurological conditions and each has its own characteristics and pathway.

Choosing communication

‘It’s good to talk’ according to the ad, but increasingly people want to choose their own means of communication. Asking questions by email, joining in web discussions with other people affected by the same condition or simply being able to get hold of an information sheet or booklet written in everyday language.

Reducing anxieties

Anxiety can mushroom from the smallest of misunderstandings. We want more people to have access to the information and support services that we provide so that we can reduce those anxieties and help people make informed choices about their treatment.
