A mother's tale: Lindsay and Vinnie

Thanks to Lindsay for letting us share her story from her Justgiving page in our 2011 Christmas Appeal, which is reproduced below.
This is my son Vinnie and he is now 7 months old and always smiling. In the photo Vinnie was just 5 months and had undergone his first operation.

Vinnie

Vinnie was born with a partially fused skull and is undergoing treatment to re-shape his skull and reduce the risk of future inter-cranial pressure and learning difficulties.

It took 4 months for us to get a final diagnosis for Vinnie and during this time several other brain conditions were tested for. Each possibility seemed scary and daunting for us and while we waited for the various test results I would trawl the internet looking for every piece of information I could find.

That is when I came across the Brain and Spine Foundation. They were an amazing source of information and support to us during that scary time when we did not know what lay ahead for our little one.

I am pleased to say that Vinnie is making a really good recovery and although he still has to have further operations, he is a happy little boy who always has a smile ready.

So now I am running the London 2012 Marathon to raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation to say thank you to them for everything they have done for my family. But also to help ensure that the Brain and Spine Foundation can continue to support other families who will face their own scary and daunting times.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and please donate whatever you can to help me reach my target and say "thank you" to the Brain and Spine Foundation.
