Fundraising with friends and family

There are many other ways that you can support the Foundation.  Here are just a few examples.

  • Collection tins

We need to expand the number of collecting tins in shops and local businesses across the country.  It would be a great help if you could simply distribute and collect some for us in your local area.

  • Celebration Donation

Whether you are celebrating a birthday, a wedding, anniversary or any special event, why not consider asking friends and family for donations to Brain and Spine Foundation rather than gifts?

We will provide you with donation cards and you can ask your friends and family to help those affected by neurological conditions in recognition of your special day.

If you would like some donations cards to send out with your party invitations, please do get in touch.

  • Volunteer

You can help us help those affected by neurological conditions in so many ways and it doesn't necessarily need to be by donating money. Your time is also invaluable.

Event volunteers
If you are keen to get involved with our events you can help us in many ways. At fundraising events such as the Flora London Marathon and Ground Collections we always need cheerers and supporters.

If you're interested in being an event volunteer please contact the Fundraising Team Fundraising

  • Foreign Coins

Do you have any foreign currency notes left over from your trips abroad? We accept all other currencies from dollars to yen – you name it, we’ll take it! Converting foreign currency to sterling is one of our most cost effective ways of raising money.

If you think you can collect lots of foreign coins and notes, drop us an email at Fundraising with your contact details and we’ll send you a collecting tin. Once it’s full, contact us again and we’ll arrange collection.

Tax Relief and Gifts of Foreign Currency to Charities

We can also claim gift aid on the sterling value donated if you have signed our Gift Aid Form.

You will need to complete a simple declaration giving your name and address, confirming that you are a taxpayer and that you want your gift to be made within Gift Aid.

If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim relief against your higher rate tax liability. Simply enter the £ sterling value of your gift on your SA tax return. You can find conversion rates in the daily newspapers. You should use the conversion rate for the date you make the gift.

If you are not a taxpayer your gift cannot be made under Gift Aid, but the charity will still be grateful for it.
