Headstrong: Information and services for children and young people

In March 2004 the Brain and Spine Foundation launched their first information resource for children and young people. Headstrong: All about brain tumours was developed in conjunction with children, parents and health professionals, and highlighted the need for the Foundation to extend its work with children and young people.

The Foundation is currently developing three projects under the banner Headstrong and will continue to involve parents, children and professionals in their development. The projects are:

  • Headstrong: All about brain injury
  • Headstrong: Friends (peer support for young people with any neurological condition)
  • Headstrong: Information Directory

The innovative aspect in the development of any Headstrong resource, is in the partnership with a reference group of young people (all of whom have had experience of living with a neurological condition) who influence each element of the projects. This level of involvement ensures their needs are met.

All of our services and information are currently free to families.
